Est. 2021 — Sathyavedu Mandal, Andhra Pradesh
SAFEF empowers small and marginalised women farmers, rural youth, people with disabilities, and vulnerable communities through traditional farming, skills training, health care, and sustainable livelihoods.
SAFEF is a Section 8 (not-for-profit) company working since 2021 in Chittoor District of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Named after Sigamani Annammal - a symbol of resilience in every Dalit, less cared and most vulnerable rural woman - the Forum unites farmers, women's self-help groups, and community volunteers to build a future free of hunger, debt, and marginalisation.
Working across Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, SAFEF focuses on giving training and awareness in organic and traditional farming to small farmers, women's leadership, disability inclusion, HIV/AIDS care, and youth empowerment — because dignity grows from the ground up.
Every programme we run flows from a single belief — that the poorest, most overlooked members of a community deserve the fullest life.
In spite of all legal protections, rural women — especially Dalit and Tribal women — continue to face domestic violence, economic exclusion, and social neglect. SAFEF organises transformative awareness and skill-training programmes that give women and youth the tools to lead dignified, self-sufficient lives.
Modern chemical farming has trapped thousands of families in debt. SAFEF champions a return to traditional and organic methods — protecting ancestral seed varieties, restoring soil health, and giving farmers direct control over their produce and pricing.
People with physical and intellectual disabilities are among the most economically vulnerable in rural communities. SAFEF walks alongside them — from obtaining government certificates to providing assistive devices, livelihood grants, and skill training.
Chittoor District is one of the worst HIV/AIDS-affected zones in India. Since 1999, SAFEF has provided advocacy, medical access, counselling, and dignity to those living with and affected by HIV — and extends the same care to elderly people abandoned by their families.
Numbers that represent real lives, real families, and real change on the ground.
From seed exhibitions to goat rearing, our programmes are practical, community-driven, and built for lasting change.
Annual two-day showcase of 125+ heritage seed varieties in Madanambedu Village. Farmers, children and community members learn the nutritional and cultural value of ancestral crops — millets, red rice, black rice, spices and greens.
Three-day intensive training on poultry and goat rearing for COVID-19-affected families. Beneficiaries receive goats and hens as livelihood alternatives, alongside expert-led sessions on disease management, breeding, and feeding.
One-day community trainings on terrace and backyard gardens. Participants receive vegetable seeds, fruit seeds, and tree saplings, enabling families to grow their own nutritious food and generate supplementary income.
Training 1256+ community members across 43 villages on converting household and farm waste into natural fertiliser. Empowers SHGs — including Transgender groups — to build sustainable livelihoods from waste-to-wealth cycles.
Eleven community sessions per year on rainwater harvesting, drip irrigation, and the Jal Sakthi Abhiyan scheme. Farmers learn to achieve strong yields using only 300–400 mm of water — building drought resilience from the roots up.
Regular eye and health camps for the elderly and poor since 1999, reaching 12,000+ lives in Sathyavedu. People with disabilities receive medical certificates, assistive devices, and access to government pensions and transport passes.
SAFEF is more than an NGO programme — it is a registered Farmer's Federation (Section 8, Companies Act 2013) that gives small and marginal farmers a collective voice, a marketplace, and a path out of the debt-middleman trap.
Each enrolled member receives a QR-coded membership card linked to India's Farmer's Kisan Sabha Portal, giving them real-time access to crop prices, government schemes, insurance, agri-loans, and freight logistics.
Future plan: expand to all 38 districts of Tamil Nadu and 26 districts of Andhra Pradesh.
"A just community living with fullness of life — through lasting solutions to poverty, hunger, illiteracy, inequality, and social injustice."
